New polls found Democrats competitive in several Republican-held Senate races, including Texas and Alaska, as the parties contest control of the Senate. A New York Times/Siena College survey showed Democrat James Talarico leading Republican Ken Paxton 51% to 45% in Texas, according to the New York Post.

The Times reported that Democrats were also competitive in Alaska, Iowa, Ohio and Kansas. The Post said victories in Texas and Alaska would be Democratic pickups and noted that the Texas poll’s margin of error was 4.5 percentage points. It also reported that 40% of Texans approved of President Trump’s performance, while 57% disapproved. The elections are scheduled for Nov. 3, the Post said.
