Umar Kremlev Funded Parts of Donald Trump Jr.'s Wedding Celebration

Donald Trump Jr. and his wife, Bettina, confirmed that Umar Kremlev, a Russian businessman with ties to the Kremlin, funded parts of their wedding celebrations. The couple stated that Kremlev hosted two nights of festivities in the Bahamas, which included renting a private island for approximately $100,000 per night and a fireworks display costing around $70,000. Bettina Trump described Kremlev's contributions as an extraordinarily generous wedding gift from a friend. She clarified that their wedding was a private ceremony attended only by family, and the subsequent celebrations were planned in advance as a fun weekend with friends. The couple expressed disappointment that their personal celebration was being viewed through a political lens due to Kremlev's background. Kremlev is the head of the International Boxing Association (IBA) and received the 'Order of Friendship' from President Vladimir Putin earlier this year. The couple's ties to Russia have previously been scrutinized, particularly during the 2016 US election campaign when Trump Jr. faced scrutiny over a meeting with a Russian attorney. A Senate Intelligence Committee report indicated that the Russian government attempted to influence the 2016 election in favor of Donald Trump.
