Juror Claims Holdout in Lindsay Clancy Trial Did Not Provide Evidence for Vote

The juror who held out during Lindsay Clancy’s trial, resulting in a hung jury, reportedly did not present any evidence to support his vote for a guilty verdict, according to fellow juror Nick Dargie. In an interview with ABC News, Dargie stated, "There wasn’t a single piece of evidence or witness testimony that he used to prove why he was thinking the way he was." The jury communicated their deadlocked position to Judge William Sullivan after 38 hours of deliberation, leading to a mistrial after seven days of deliberations and five weeks of testimony. Dargie noted that he asked the holdout juror multiple times for supporting evidence, but the juror did not provide any. The jury consisted of 12 members, with a majority of 11 favoring a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict, citing Clancy's postpartum psychosis as a factor in her actions. Clancy, 36, is currently in a state-run psychiatric facility, Tewksbury Hospital, with her next hearing scheduled for September 29.
