Democrats are preparing to counter the GOP’s midterm convention in Dallas next week, sending key representatives to address issues related to affordability and their agenda for 2026.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced counterprogramming plans for the GOP’s two-day event.

Jeffries is dispatching four members of his Democratic caucus — Oversight ranking member Robert Garcia (D-CA) and Representatives Jason Crow (D-CO), Madeleine Dean (D-PA), and Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) — to Texas.

While in Dallas, these members will engage with constituents, emphasize the cost of living crisis, and address perceived failures of the Republican Party, according to a press announcement.

“While swing seat House Republicans try to hide from their record of raising costs on working families, gutting Medicaid to fund tax breaks for billionaire donors and supporting a reckless war of choice in Iran, House Democrats will be present to hold them accountable,” Jeffries stated. “Americans are drowning in the failed Republican economy. Rather than taking a single step to lower costs, MAGA extremists are partying with their super rich donors in Dallas.”

The DNC is also scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday morning, the first day of the convention, with speakers including Governor JB Pritzker (D-IL) and Texas Democratic Party Chairman Kendall Scudder.

The DNC claims that the speakers will remind voters that “Trump and Republicans are the reason why families are unable to pay their bills.”

In addition to national Democrats' appearances, the progressive research organization American Bridge is launching a satirical website that mocks the convention. The site suggests that attendees will learn how to evade difficult questions from voters and maintain loyalty to Trump.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is expected to feature a total of 109 items and speakers during the convention, including speeches from President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

RNC Chairman Joe Gruters previously stated that “Over two action-packed days, we will take Americans through the defining issues of our Party’s agenda and what is at stake in November.”
