Manchester City said it intends to appeal by Friday after an independent commission found the club had breached Premier League financial rules, according to reports published after Tuesday's decision.
The BBC reported City was found guilty of 114 of 115 charges, while the Associated Press described the club as guilty of almost all 115 charges. The findings concerned alleged breaches between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons, the BBC said. Reports said the commission found City used sponsorship arrangements to inflate revenue and conceal some liabilities. City has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and said it has “irrefutable evidence” to clear its name.
The BBC said the chair of a cross-party group of MPs has asked His Majesty's Revenue and Customs to examine possible tax implications. The appeal would open a further stage in the Premier League case.
