An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and wounded a man during an enforcement operation around 4 p.m. Thursday in Marble Hill, New York City, officials said. The man was conscious and receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, according to the New York Police Department.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani said early reports indicated agents had surrounded the man and a five-year-old child in a car before firing several shots. He said the child was believed to be physically unharmed. The Department of Homeland Security said ICE officers were carrying out a targeted operation and were seeking to arrest the man.
The NYPD said its officers were not involved and were not at the scene when the shooting occurred. Mamdani said he had contacted President Donald Trump and would seek an end to ICE enforcement actions in the city.
