Fauci, who served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has previously faced scrutiny for his responses during congressional hearings. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a similar investigation after the Senate hearing, expressing concerns about Fauci's transparency.
Senator Rand Paul, who chaired the hearing, indicated he would provide evidence to Uthmeier regarding Fauci's testimony. Paul has also scheduled a committee meeting to discuss whether Fauci should be held in contempt for his responses during the hearing.
Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama has expressed a commitment to holding Fauci accountable if he becomes governor, asserting that Fauci's actions contributed to significant loss of life during the pandemic. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has previously supported investigations into Fauci but has not commented since the latest hearing.
