Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he supports a proposed ban on diesel exports, which some US politicians suggest as a measure to reduce rising energy costs. Diesel prices have reached record highs in both Europe and the US, driven by conflicts in Iran and Ukraine that have significantly reduced exports from major producers such as Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. As of Tuesday, the average price for a gallon of diesel fuel in the US was $6.53, marking the highest average on record and an increase of over 75% compared to the previous year. The industry trade group has expressed concerns that such a ban could backfire and lead to even higher gasoline prices.
