President Donald Trump is expected to meet with Gulf leaders to discuss the ongoing conflict in Iran next week during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday and will address the next steps in the war with Iran, including the Trump administration's postwar strategy, according to sources cited by Axios. Leaders or foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman are anticipated to attend. There is a possibility that the meeting could be expanded to include additional Arab and Muslim leaders. The Gulf states and U.S. military bases in the region have faced Iranian missile and drone attacks throughout the conflict, which has also negatively impacted the economies of Arab nations by disrupting oil and natural gas exports. The Trump administration's plan for Iran following the conflict is not expected to be finalized until after the November midterm elections. Trump has suggested that the war may conclude shortly after the elections. Vice President JD Vance mentioned earlier this week that the conflict, which has lasted nearly seven months, will enter a 'much different phase' in the coming months. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also seeking to meet with Trump at the UN General Assembly, although a meeting has not yet been scheduled. The White House did not respond immediately to a request for comment from The Post.
