House Passes Sanctions Package Targeting Russia and Iran

<p>On September 16, 2026, the House of Representatives passed a sanctions package aimed at Russia and Iran, with a vote of 262 to 159. This legislation, named the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, received support from 53 Democrats and 203 Republicans, while 152 Democrats and 7 Republicans opposed it.</p><p>The bill grants President Donald Trump tariff authority over countries that support Russia's war in Ukraine, a provision that has faced criticism from some Democrats.
