Building collapse in Gaza Strip results in at least 12 fatalities

At least 12 people have been killed, including children, and dozens are missing after a war-damaged building collapsed in the Gaza Strip, according to local rescue teams. Video footage shows ongoing search efforts for bodies and survivors in the rubble of the multi-storey building located in the Tal al-Hawa area of Gaza City. Locals reported that 10 families had been residing in the building despite warnings about its safety. Members of the Hamas-run Civil Defence rescue service stated they initially faced challenges due to Israeli restrictions on equipment entering Gaza but have since acquired some heavy machinery for rescue operations. On Tuesday, Israeli air strikes in Gaza resulted in the deaths of at least five Palestinians, including two children and a Hamas commander, according to health officials and Hamas sources. The Israeli military confirmed the killing of a Hamas commander in southern Gaza and another fighter in the north, with reports indicating that a child was also killed in both incidents. Additionally, the British charity Medical Aid for Palestinians reported that a patient was killed by an Israeli drone at a health centre it supports in Jabalia, located in northern Gaza.
