<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/house-democrats/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">House Democrats</a> passed a resolution directing President <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/donald-trump/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Donald Trump</a> to end U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the third attempt to do so. The resolution passed with a vote of 220-204, with seven Republicans joining the Democrats in support.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The seven Republican representatives who voted in favor of the resolution are Thomas Massie (R-KY), Tom Barrett (R-MI), Warren Davidson (R-OH), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Nancy Mace (R-SC), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), and Zach Nunn (R-IA). This is an increase from the four Republicans who supported the measure in previous votes.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The resolution was sponsored by Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), who stated that Democrats would continue to push for votes to limit Trump's war powers. Crow emphasized the bipartisan nature of the issue, noting that both Republicans and Democrats are expressing opposition to the ongoing military actions.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On the same day, Rep. Massie introduced articles of impeachment against Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, citing his role in the Iran war. Massie's articles accuse Hegseth of abusing his office by executing unlawful orders to initiate war without Congressional authorization, which he claims endangers national security.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Massie stated that Hegseth poses a threat to the Constitution and has acted in a manner inconsistent with the rule of law. An Ipsos poll released in April indicated that 71% of Americans oppose U.S. involvement in Iran.</p>
