Transportation Secretary Duffy Announces Upcoming Fraud Crackdown

<p>Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy announced on Sunday that he will reveal details about a fraud crackdown related to the Trump administration on Monday.</p><p>In a post on X, Duffy stated, "TOMORROW: UNPRECEDENTED FRAUD CRACKDOWN." He tagged several officials and departments, including Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Department of Justice, and the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, indicating a coordinated effort across multiple agencies.</p><p>Duffy did not provide specifics about the announcement, such as the timing or location, the types of fraud to be addressed, or whether any arrests have been made.</p><p>This announcement is part of a broader initiative by the administration to combat fraud. In March, Trump established the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud to enhance coordination among federal benefit programs.</p><p>The Department of Justice has also formed a National Fraud Enforcement Division to investigate and prosecute cases of theft or fraudulent misuse of taxpayer funds.</p><p>Recently, Duffy’s Department of Transportation has collaborated with DHS to address fraud and safety violations in the commercial trucking sector, including issues related to commercial driver’s licenses, fraudulent driving schools, and unvetted foreign drivers. In July, the agencies launched a joint investigation into approximately 75 commercial driving schools suspected of fraud, which includes allegations of falsifying training records and improperly certifying drivers. They have also conducted roadside enforcement operations targeting unqualified foreign commercial drivers.</p>
