Milo Yiannopoulos Deported After ICE Arrest in Louisiana

<p>Former Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos was deported to the United Kingdom one day after being arrested by ICE agents at a Louisiana airport. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that Yiannopoulos overstayed his visa and failed to attend an immigration hearing.</p><p>DHS confirmed that Yiannopoulos was arrested at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, Louisiana, and was subsequently held in ICE custody in Alexandria, Louisiana, a significant location for deportation operations.</p><p>According to DHS, Yiannopoulos entered the United States legally on May 14, 2019, through New York City but remained after his authorized stay expired. An immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after he did not appear for his immigration hearing.</p><p>DHS noted, "Yiannopoulos legally entered the country on May 14, 2019, through New York City, New York. He chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws." The agency used Yiannopoulos’ case to issue a warning to illegal immigrants and to highlight the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies.</p><p>DHS indicated that it has reversed a Biden administration policy that allowed illegal immigrants to travel within the country, stating that such travel will now only be permitted if it is related to leaving the United States.</p><p>The agency emphasized that under the Trump administration, DHS will not allow illegal immigrants to fly unless it is to self-deport. DHS also encouraged illegal immigrants to use the CBP Home app to arrange voluntary departures, offering $3,000 and a free flight for those who choose to leave voluntarily.</p><p>DHS stated, "Being in detention is a choice," and added that individuals who use the app may have a chance to return to the United States legally in the future. Those who do not leave voluntarily will face arrest and deportation without the opportunity to return.</p><p>Yiannopoulos gained national attention as a political commentator and former editor at Breitbart News, known for his provocative speeches and online commentary, which included appearances that led to protests at various events.</p><p>Fox News' Bill Melugin and Jasmine Baehr contributed to this report.</p>
