27 Dead and Hundreds Evacuated Following Strikes Near Kyiv

In Russia, local officials reported two fatalities and 21 injuries in strikes in the Belgorod and Rostov regions within the past 24 hours. President Zelensky extended condolences to the victims' families of the warehouse strike, stating that over 300 emergency responders had been deployed to the area. He indicated that an investigation into potential negligence had commenced, emphasizing that regulations prohibit storing ammunition near residential buildings. Russia's Ministry of Defence claimed that its forces targeted "an ammunition depot" in the Kyiv region village of Myla, which allegedly stores components and launch boosters for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles. Zelensky also mentioned further overnight strikes in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia. He stated, "Ukraine cannot be alone in finding solutions to protect against such strikes, and I thank everyone who helps with additional support packages and sanctions against Russia," via Telegram. The Ukrainian army reported having shot down 233 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles overnight into Saturday. Smoke was observed rising near a residential area in the Kyiv region early Saturday. Both Russia and Ukraine have escalated their attacks in recent months, with Kyiv targeting Russian economic sites. Russian online retailer Ozon reported that one of its logistics centers was struck in an overnight Ukrainian drone attack. The company also suspended operations at a second logistics center and evacuated staff due to safety concerns. Earlier this week, its facilities in Krasnodar, Dagestan, Stavropol, and Adygea were targeted in strikes, leading to injuries and significant damage. Ukraine has been targeting sites associated with Wildberries, the largest online retailer in the country, labeling the firm as a legitimate target for supplying components to the military, a claim Moscow denies.
