Tracey emphasized Parton's contributions, saying, '9 To 5 was originally written and produced by Dolly, whose extraordinary talent, creativity, and spirit are woven into every part of this work.' The cast dedicated the performance to Parton, expressing gratitude for her influence on the musical. Paul Jepson, chief executive of Landmark Theatres and the musical's director, also paid tribute, stating, 'Our thoughts are with Dolly's family, friends and all those around the world who loved and admired her.' Amber Davies, who starred in the West End run of 9 To 5, shared her own tribute, recalling her meeting with Parton as a highlight of her life. The musical is based on the 1980 film of the same name, which starred Parton alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. Despite her passing, it was confirmed that Dolly: A True Original Musical will begin previews in December in New York, with an official opening on January 19, 2027, which would have been Parton's 81st birthday. The musical will showcase her life story and feature both classic hits and new songs written specifically for the show.
