Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected from the WNBA game at Wintrust Arena on Sunday after a verbal altercation with Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud during the third quarter. The incident occurred while the Indiana Fever led 81-75 during a timeout. Cloud directed comments toward Freedom, who was seated courtside, prompting him to respond and approach the court, leading security to intervene and escort him out as the crowd reacted with boos.
Following his removal, Freedom posted on X, stating, "I just got kicked out of a @WNBA game for supporting WOMEN! Let that sink in, AMERICA!" He further commented, "It’s always women hating on other women."
The altercation was preceded by Freedom wearing a shirt with the definition of "woman" printed on it, which Cloud reportedly found offensive. After the game, Sky players Azura Stevens and Aicha Coulibaly were asked about the incident, but Stevens declined to comment further, stating, "There was just a fan incident and the security handled it. We’re going to just focus on the game."
Freedom's presence at the game had already drawn attention, as he had faced hostility from some fans outside the arena prior to the game. The Fever won the game against the Sky with a final score of 113-90. Requests for comments from the Chicago Sky and Wintrust Arena management were not immediately returned.
