The incident occurred during the Indiana Fever's 113-90 victory over the Sky, when Cloud engaged with Freedom, who was seated courtside. Following their exchange, security escorted Freedom out of the arena. White suggested that the WNBA might respond by suspending Freedom, drawing parallels to past incidents involving spectators.
Freedom later shared his perspective on the confrontation, stating that Cloud used strong language towards him, which he found surprising given the presence of young fans nearby. Both Freedom and White aim to challenge the WNBA's eligibility standards, as the league's current collective bargaining agreement specifies that only players who are women are eligible to play, without defining the term or outlining specific requirements for transgender athletes.
