Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall paid a Hutchinson bakery $1,300 on Saturday after its owner said his 2020 Senate campaign had not paid a bill for six years, reports said. The payment was more than the $678.75 invoice shown by Marshall and roughly double the amount cited by the bakery owner.

Holly Thomas, owner of Holly’s Sweet Treats, said the campaign had not paid for items supplied for an election watch party. Reports described the order as including cookies, cupcakes and brownies; one report listed muffins rather than cupcakes. Marshall posted a screenshot of the payment and said, “We have absolutely no idea how this happened.” He said the bill had been repaid double.
