Irish novelist Sally Rooney said her books will no longer be supplied to UK booksellers after she supported Palestine Action, a group proscribed as a terrorist organisation by the British government. Rooney said she and her publisher, Faber, agreed to halt further supply because publication of her work could be a serious criminal offence.
Rooney, whose novels include “Normal People” and “Intermezzo,” said she had intended to continue using royalties to support the group. She told BBC News she accepted the consequences of her stated beliefs and intentions. E-book editions have already been removed from UK sale, according to the BBC, while some bookshops still hold existing physical stock. The BBC reported Rooney has sold more than six million novels globally.
