Russian missile and drone strikes damaged energy infrastructure in Kyiv, the surrounding region and Kharkiv, leaving at least 600,000 people without electricity, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday.

Zelenskyy said 26 power-system facilities and four oil and gas facilities were damaged. BBC reported that Kyiv officials said three people were killed, while Al Jazeera reported at least six deaths across Ukraine. Russia's Defence Ministry said its forces struck communications and energy facilities used by Ukraine's military, including power and heating plants in Kyiv and Kharkiv.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine had received no early warning from partners about five ballistic missiles aimed at Kyiv, without naming the partners. He said the strikes occurred despite an energy ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
