A BBC Panorama investigation reported that Deloitte in Cyprus helped falsify documents that removed $672 million (£508 million) in assets linked to Roman Abramovich from company accounts, allegedly allowing tax to be evaded.
The assets included superyachts, mansions and private jets, according to the BBC. The report said Deloitte also appeared to have advised on a plan to avoid a large tax bill through falsified documents. Financial-services law barrister Andrew Mitchell KC told Panorama the evidence indicated tax evasion.
Abramovich’s lawyers said he denies evading tax or hiding his wealth. They said Panorama had not provided evidence that he knew of, approved or directed the falsification of documents.
