A political group supporting Susan Collins placed digital ads targeting her opponent, Troy Jackson, in Portland, Oregon, rather than Portland, Maine, according to reports.
The Washington Examiner reported that Defending Main Street PAC had earmarked about $25,000 for the ads and said a vendor made the placement error. The group said it would receive a full refund. The Daily Beast, citing Google’s Political Ad Transparency Center, reported the purchase was between $20,000 and $25,000 and reached the Portland, Oregon, market, including parts of Washington state.
Jackson is seeking to unseat Collins in Maine, the New York Times reported. Collins is a Republican serving a fifth term, according to the Times.
