Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former political rival Curtis Sliwa received flu shots Friday at a medical office in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, holding hands during the vaccinations.
The pair had faced each other in the New York mayoral race, with Mamdani defeating the Republican challenger last November, according to ABC7. Sliwa joked that the injections were not the kind of shots the two had previously given each other and said Mamdani received more votes. Mamdani offered to hold Sliwa’s hand after Sliwa expressed concern about appearing embarrassed, the Washington Examiner reported. The mayor received the shot to encourage other New Yorkers to do so as temperatures decline, ABC7 said.
