Benny Caldera Jr., 40, was arrested early Wednesday after authorities said they received information about an alleged planned attack on the Texas State Capitol in Austin, officials said. The Texas Department of Public Safety said the alleged attack was planned for Thursday.
Authorities said Caldera was taken into custody at his home in Converse and charged with making a terroristic threat against a public servant. The department said it received information Tuesday that an individual was planning a violent attack. Gov. Greg Abbott said the man had made verbal threats toward the Capitol, according to The Hill. The Washington Examiner reported that Caldera was released from Bexar County Jail later Wednesday on $75,000 bond.
