Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico returned to public campaigning Friday after an absence his campaign attributed to the flu, appearing at Austin City Limits in Texas.
His campaign spokesman, JT Ennis, said Talarico was talking with voters at the festival. Social media posts showed him walking through the grounds, NBC News reported. Talarico had last attended an in-person event in the state on Sept. 26, according to NBC. He appeared virtually at a Sept. 30 forum and said he was ill.
NBC reported that Talarico had traveled to New York for a private fundraiser on Sept. 29 before returning to Dallas and visiting urgent care. The Washington Examiner described the absence as nearly two weeks and said the campaign had said he would resume campaigning over the weekend. Republicans questioned his absence, according to the Washington Post and Washington Examiner.
