Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia that Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey and Newt Gingrich will co-lead Project Meridian, a Defense Department effort to examine future warfare and military technology.

The group will study future battlefields and the weapons and technologies that could be used on them, according to reports. TechCrunch said the project will operate under Defense Department Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael and has 120 days to deliver findings and proposed actions for developing, testing and fielding technology. The New York Post reported that the results will include a public report and a classified annex. During the same address, Hegseth said the military had reduced generals and admirals by 20%, Deutsche Welle reported.
