Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff and Republican Rep. Mike Collins exchanged personal attacks during their first Georgia Senate debate Thursday evening, as they competed for support in the midterm race.
Ossoff accused Collins of having ties to white nationalists, according to The Washington Post, and said, “You’ve hired half the Third Reich.” The New York Times reported that Ossoff also called Collins a bigot. Collins called Ossoff a radical “trust-fund kid,” the Times reported.
The Hill described the debate as moving quickly into attacks and campaign talking points. It said Ossoff, the incumbent, had held a slight lead over Collins in recent polling.
