A federal judge on Thursday reinstated Roger Rogoff as Seattle’s top federal prosecutor, ruling that President Donald Trump could not remove him after federal district judges appointed him, according to the Washington Examiner and The New York Times.
U.S. District Judge Stanley Bastian issued a preliminary injunction and directed the administration not to block Rogoff’s access to U.S. attorney’s office resources, the Examiner reported. The accounts differed on the timing of Rogoff’s appointment: the Examiner said judges appointed him less than an hour before his removal, while the Times said he was appointed in July by a unanimous vote of judges in the Western District of Washington. The Washington Post described the ruling as finding the firing unlawful.
