A federal judge on Friday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from building border barriers and related infrastructure in Texas’s Big Bend region, including Big Bend National Park.

U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone’s order bars construction and ground-disturbing work in the Big Bend sector. The planned work was part of a $46 billion administration effort to add steel walls, vehicle barriers, roads and surveillance technology along the southern border, according to the Associated Press. Landowners, businesses and environmental groups had opposed the projects. The order remains in effect for now.
