At least 139 migrants, including 15 children, died after a boat carrying 305 people from Djibouti toward Yemen capsized Thursday night near Guhere, north of Obock, the International Organization for Migration said Sunday. At least 84 people were still missing.
The agency said more than 80 people survived; the BBC reported about 82 were rescued, while Fox News said all survivors were Ethiopian nationals. The IOM revised the death toll from 109 after 30 additional bodies were recovered, according to the BBC. PBS reported that the official toll included people buried by Djibouti authorities, while other bodies buried by migrants were awaiting verification.
