Rashida Tlaib's Rally Canceled by Venue Due to Security Concerns

Representative Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan, was scheduled to headline a rally in South Florida supporting three progressive Democratic candidates. The event, titled "Chomp the Oligarchy," was set for Friday night at The Venue in Fort Lauderdale, just days before Florida's primary election. However, the venue canceled the event, citing "increased security concerns" after reviewing promotional materials and the full scope of the event. State Representative Michael Gottlieb criticized the rally, labeling it as "anti-Jew" and accusing the candidates of being part of an "Anti-Israel and Anti-Zionism coalition." Following the cancellation, rally organizers stated they would not be silenced by criticism and moved the event to an alternate outdoor location, which attracted approximately 300 supporters. During the rally, Larkin addressed the situation, claiming it was part of a campaign of intimidation. Tlaib also attended the rally and introduced one of the candidates, Angie Nixon. Tlaib has faced criticism for her comments regarding Israel and has denied allegations of antisemitism.
