President Trump Addresses Concerns Over USS Abraham Lincoln Deployment

President Trump stated on Friday that family members of sailors and Marines aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln are not concerned about their loved ones, despite reports of poor living conditions and mental health issues among the crew. Trump, speaking at Joint Base Andrews, mentioned that the aircraft carrier would soon be replaced by another ship after a nine-month deployment. Reports indicate that the USS Abraham Lincoln has been stationed in the Arabian Sea since January, and there have been incidents involving sailors attempting to jump overboard due to the conditions on board. Family members recently met with acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao to discuss their concerns. Trump dismissed worries about the deployment duration, stating it has not been long enough, even though the typical deployment is six months. The USS George Washington is set to relieve the Lincoln, but it is still several days away. Rep. Mike Levin expressed his concerns about the conditions on the ship, citing reports of inadequate facilities and the mental toll on the crew. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth defended the care provided to the crew, stating that the situation has been misrepresented.
