Kentucky Governor Criticizes Congress Over Mitch McConnell's Health Transparency

He noted that despite McConnell's release from a rehabilitation facility eight days prior, there has been no confirmation of his recovery or plans to resume Senate duties. Beshear attributed the lack of accountability to Republican leadership, specifically mentioning Senate Majority Leader John Thune's comments about not assessing McConnell's capacity to serve. McConnell was hospitalized after collapsing at his home on June 14, and his staff took nearly a month to release a photograph of him. Although McConnell stated he was recovering from a fall and pneumonia, his future in Congress remains uncertain as he has not confirmed his ability to return before his retirement in January. Republican allies have largely refrained from commenting on the situation, with some asserting that McConnell has been transparent with the public.
