Brown, who lost his seat to Senator Bernie Moreno in 2024, is now challenging Husted to regain his position. Voter sentiment indicates that 51% are concerned about Husted's close alignment with former President Donald Trump, while 44% express concern over Brown's ties to the Democratic establishment.
Despite concerns regarding his party affiliation, Brown maintains strong support among Democrats, with 97% backing him, compared to 87% of Republicans supporting Husted. The University of Virginia’s Sabato’s Crystal Ball recently shifted the race's forecast from leaning Republican to a toss-up, indicating a competitive environment in Ohio. However, a June poll from the New York Times-Siena gave Husted a narrow 3-point lead. In the 2024 election, Trump won Ohio by 12 points, and Moreno defeated Brown by a 3-point margin, but Husted will not have Trump's name on the ballot in this election.
