Trump Advises GOP to Focus on Health Care in Midterm Campaigns

President Donald Trump's political advisors recently recommended that Senate Republicans increase their focus on health care issues. This advice was shared during a briefing on August 5, where Trump’s team, including pollster Tony Fabrizio and Senate Leadership Fund executive director Alex Latcham, presented polling data indicating that health care could be a strong campaign message for Republicans in the upcoming midterms. The data suggested that Republicans have a 46-point advantage when advocating for greater transparency from health insurance companies, particularly regarding profits and patient care delays. In contrast, messaging related to the SAVE Act showed only a 14-point advantage over Democrats. The briefing also indicated that banning congressional stock trading and addressing fraud could resonate well with voters. Despite past challenges with health care as a campaign issue, Republicans are now looking to position insurance companies as adversaries. Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., is expected to contribute to midterm campaigns, with Trump stating he intends to support Republican candidates. The Republican National Committee currently has $128 million in cash on hand, significantly more than the Democratic National Committee's $16 million.
