Green Party files lawsuit to remove candidate from Pennsylvania ballot

Tupone, who is running in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District against Democratic nominee Bob Brooks and Republican incumbent Ryan Mackenzie, previously registered as a Republican and voted in GOP primaries before changing his affiliation to Green Party in April 2026. The Green Party asserts that Tupone misled voters into believing he had their support. Co-Chairwoman Colleen Schmotzer stated that the party endorses candidates who align with its principles, which Tupone does not. Tupone has defended his candidacy by asserting that his political beliefs have remained consistent and that he aims to provide an alternative to the major parties. The legal challenge could impact the competitiveness of the race, which has recently been classified as a 'toss-up.'
