The PAC has invested $750,000 in a campaign that includes television, digital, and mail advertisements ahead of the November midterm elections.
Miller-Meeks, an ophthalmologist who has been in office since 2019, narrowly won reelection in 2024. She is facing former Democratic state Rep. Christina Bohannan in this election cycle. Shaughnessy Naughton, president of 314 Action, stated that the organization is heavily investing in this race as it is crucial for the Democratic majority in Congress.
Naughton criticized Miller-Meeks for aligning with insurance companies and former President Trump on healthcare issues. The advertisements focus on her support for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Democrats claim cuts $1 trillion from Medicaid funding over the next decade, while Republicans argue that the savings come from reforms rather than cuts.
Miller-Meeks has received approximately $262,000 from the pharmaceutical and health industry during her time in office. In response to concerns about rural healthcare, Republicans included a $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Fund in the legislation to support rural hospitals.
314 Action is backing Bohannan, who has a healthcare agenda that emphasizes choice without mandating a Medicare-for-All system. Naughton remarked that while Bohannan has worked to lower costs and expand healthcare, Miller-Meeks has not upheld her commitments to her constituents.
The PAC has supported various candidates with science backgrounds in the current election cycle, having raised over $100 million since its inception in 2016, with $25 million allocated for this cycle alone.
