El Sayed stated that he does not share Piker's view that the party should unite behind the recent primary winner. Piker has been a prominent supporter of el Sayed, campaigning for him against Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI).
El Sayed acknowledged Piker's perspective but emphasized his own focus on winning the Senate race. He remarked, "He’s a streamer. I’m focused on trying to win a race for Senate in Michigan." Piker had previously criticized establishment Democrats for not supporting el Sayed, suggesting they should rally behind him instead of expecting el Sayed to mend relationships.
El Sayed's campaign has centered on eliminating corporate PAC money from politics and he has criticized his opponent for accepting funds from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. He expressed a commitment to building trust with voters.
When asked about including Piker in his campaign, el Sayed stated he is more focused on the issues and the voters rather than the individuals he campaigns with. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) challenged el Sayed to continue campaigning with Piker, suggesting it could be a liability in the general election. El Sayed will face GOP nominee Mike Rogers in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections.
