28 Boy Scouts Rescued from Floodwaters in West Virginia

On Saturday, 28 Boy Scouts were rescued from floodwaters while on a river trip in Hampshire County, West Virginia. The scouts, from Fairfax, Virginia, were navigating the Cacapon River when the water levels rose unexpectedly due to a storm, leading them to seek safety on the riverbank. Micah Campbell, a member of the troop, reported that they initially attempted to move towards land but ended up stranded on the opposite side of the river. After realizing their situation, they called for assistance. Rescue crews arrived with watercraft and transported the scouts safely across the river after approximately 45 minutes. Following the rescue, the scouts were provided with pizza and hot cocoa at a nearby cabin while arrangements were made for their transportation home.
