Bernie Sanders suggests working-class Republicans may support Abdul el Sayed in Michigan Senate race

During an appearance on Meet the Press, Sanders responded to a comment from Senator Gary Peters (D-MI), who suggested that Stevens might be a better candidate to appeal to centrist and independent voters. Sanders argued that economic concerns among working-class Republicans could lead them to vote for el Sayed, who identifies as a socialist and advocates for an anti-corporate economic agenda. He noted that el Sayed's focus on issues like healthcare and livable wages resonates with voters facing economic challenges. The primary election on Tuesday will determine who will face Trump-backed former Rep. Mike Rogers in the general election. Recent polling indicates that el Sayed is leading Stevens by double digits ahead of the primary.
