He cited responsibilities at the White House as the reason for his absence. In a post on Truth Social, he expressed his desire to be present but emphasized the importance of remaining in Washington, D.C. during this time. Trump stated, "While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so." He also mentioned that he may not attend due to the situation with Iran and other issues. Trump characterized the wedding as a small private affair and acknowledged the scrutiny he faces regardless of his decision to attend or not. His schedule for the weekend includes only "executive time" at the White House. This wedding marks the second marriage for Donald Trump Jr., who has five children from his previous marriage to Vanessa, which ended in divorce in 2018.
