Mike Lindell Accumulates Daily Fines Over Defamation Case

Mike Lindell, CEO of MyPillow and a supporter of former President Donald Trump, is facing daily fines for failing to pay a court-ordered judgment related to defamation claims made against him. Lindell was ordered to pay $56,369 to Smartmatic USA after the company successfully sued him for defamation earlier this year. Since being held in contempt of court on April 7, he has accrued fines of $500 per day, totaling $56,500 as of Thursday, which exceeds the original judgment amount. Lindell stated in court that he lacks the funds to pay the judgment, despite significant campaign expenditures. Additionally, he was found liable for defaming a former employee of Dominion Voting Systems in June 2025. U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols has indicated that further sanctions may be imposed if Lindell does not settle the judgment by August 21. The judgment cannot be pardoned by the president. Lindell is currently a candidate in the Minnesota governor's race, endorsed by Trump.
