FIFA President Gianni Infantino Faces Opposition Following Adviser Resignation

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing increased scrutiny following the resignation of his senior adviser, Carlos Cordeiro, who opposed plans to sell a stake in a World Cup company to private investors. Cordeiro described the initiative to create FIFA Forward Enterprise as a 'bad deal for football,' emphasizing the importance of the asset and the implications of selling part of it. The proposal has been rejected by the European and Asian confederations, as well as Concacaf, which represents North and Central America and the Caribbean. UEFA announced that its national teams would boycott future FIFA competitions if the proposal proceeds, stating that external investor ownership would fundamentally change football. Concacaf and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) echoed these concerns, highlighting the need for transparency and proper governance in the decision-making process.
