CBS News Announces Changes to '60 Minutes' Staff

CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss announced a significant restructuring of the program '60 Minutes' ahead of its 59th season. Ross Douthat, a former columnist for The New York Times, will join as a correspondent, according to a memo from newly appointed executive producer Nick Bilton. Bilton noted Douthat's ability to make complex topics accessible and his depth of curiosity. Kathleen Kingsbury, the Opinion editor at The New York Times, expressed gratitude for Douthat’s contributions during his 17 years at the publication. Additionally, Norah O'Donnell, a veteran CBS News anchor, will also serve as a correspondent for '60 Minutes.' Bilton highlighted her extensive experience with the program, including interviews with notable figures such as Pope Francis and President Biden. Other contributors announced include journalist Sebastian Junger, former Vice News correspondent Gianna Toboni, and former Sky News presenter Trevor Phillips. This announcement follows recent firings within the program, including executive producer Tanya Simon and several correspondents, which have led to tensions within CBS News.
