Suspect in Berlin Pride Attack Shot Dead by Police

On July 26, 2026, a suspect involved in a van ramming attack during Berlin's Pride celebrations was shot dead by police. The attack occurred in Tiergarten Park, resulting in one death and 29 injuries. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat following the suspect's death. The suspect had previously attempted to join the Islamic State and had been sentenced in Lebanon for inciting conflict. Police located the suspect in a garden allotment in Spandau, where he attacked officers with a bladed weapon before being shot. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and he died at the scene.
