Mississippi Teen Charged with Murder of Elderly Couple Had Prior Criminal Allegations

A 17-year-old from Mississippi, Cordarius Hobbs, has been charged with the murder of an elderly couple, Billy Blair, 74, and Virginia Carol Blair, 71, in their home on June 3. Local law enforcement identified Hobbs as a suspect in multiple burglaries and car thefts prior to the incident. According to an incident report from the Simpson County Sheriff's Department, Hobbs was described as a 'troubled juvenile' and had previously worked for the Blairs. Family members expressed doubts about his guilt, citing his prior relationship with the couple. On the day of the alleged crime, contractors found the couple's home in disarray and called for a welfare check. When officers arrived, they were met with gunfire, leading to a standoff that ended with Hobbs's capture. The couple was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds. Hobbs is facing two counts of capital murder and one count of burglary, among other charges, and has been denied bond. His defense attorney stated that there is a lack of forensic evidence linking Hobbs directly to the shooting.
