Cost of DOJ's Trump Banner Project Approaches $1 Million

Records obtained by Politico through the Freedom of Information Act reveal that the Department of Justice (DOJ) spent nearly $1 million on banners featuring President Donald Trump's portrait. The contract for the project, referred to as the "RFK Beautification Project," totaled $892,192.07, with an additional $54,768 added through a supplemental agreement. Two banners were installed on the corners of the Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building, displaying Trump's portrait alongside the phrase "MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN." The project also included expenses for pressure washing the building's exterior and upgrades to the lighting system to illuminate the banners at night. A DOJ spokesperson stated that the banners were part of a broader beautification effort for the historic building. However, the spending has drawn criticism, with Democratic Senator Adam Schiff calling it a "terrible waste of Americans' hard-earned money." Schiff also noted additional contracts for Trump banners at other federal agencies, including $39,000 at the Department of the Interior and up to $114,000 at the Federal Aviation Administration.
