Wisconsin Democratic Socialist Candidate Advocates for National Guard Involvement with ICE

Francesca Hong, a Democratic Socialist candidate for governor of Wisconsin, has suggested deploying American troops to assist in actions against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the state. During an October appearance on Resistance Radio, Hong stated, "If the National Guard has to be out here arresting ICE agents, you have to meet state-sanctioned violence with parts of the state sometimes." Hong has previously expressed strong opposition to ICE, advocating for its dismantlement and criticizing its practices as harmful to families and communities. She has also introduced legislation aimed at limiting ICE's operations in Wisconsin. Hong's broader stance includes advocating for police reform, including defunding, which she views as a necessary step towards abolishing the police. As the leading candidate in the Democratic primary, she is set to face other candidates, including Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez, in the upcoming election on August 11.
