Jiang reflected on the quick response of reporters and officials during that incident, noting that it would be remembered in history. She also highlighted the importance of standing together against political violence, stating, "An assassination attempt on our president is an attack on democracy itself." Several administration officials, including former President Donald Trump, were present at the event, where awards were also set to be given later in the evening.
